Introduction to course

Optimise your learning experience

Before you begin watching the video, it is important that you know how to manage your time and your working space so as to get the most from the course. There are a few things you need to set aside and only you yourself can do this.

Game plan – Set a GOAL! Ask yourself why you enrol in the course and what you want to get out from it. Write it down so that you are mindful of your intention. The purpose of doing this is to pre-inform your mind so that you become mindful of what you want to know or learn when watching the video.

Materials – The sure way to get yourself frustrated is you can’t find your drawing materials. Put aside what you need and keep the materials inside a file case or bag so that you can find it all in one place. I suggest you put these art materials together:

  1. A drawing booklet or sketch book
  2. 2B pencil and a plastic eraser
  3. Drawing pen (0.3, 0.5, 0.8)
  4. Copier paper (if you are using loose sheets of paper to practice)
  5. A file to keep your drawing practices
  6. Other items where necessary

Work space – A well-lit room with a desk is conducive for learning. You can use your dinning table as well. Just make sure that it is a space where you can focus on your work.

Time – Set one hour aside daily to do the course. Make sure that you learn one thing in that hour. You can watch the same video on another day to reinforce what has been taught and learn something new. Do write down your thoughts in your own words so that the knowledge becomes relevant to you.

Practice – Action speaks louder than words. If you can do it means that you already know how it works. The more you practice the more your skill get polished.

Finally, don’t be in a hurry or rush to complete the course. You are not racing with anyone. Take small steps but focus on the goal you set for yourself, and don’t forget to take a break when you need it.

Enjoy your self-learning journey!
